STANCHEV, V., D. GEORGIEV and S. GARGOVA, 2010. Mathematical modeling of the nutrient medium composition for the production of yeast phytase. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 16: 628-634 The objective of the present study was the optimization of the nutrient medium composition for Candida melibiosica 2491 cultivation by means of mathematical methods of modeling and production of yeasts with higher enzyme capacity. An optimal composition plan was used for the mathematical description of the process that enabled the generation of linear and non-linear regression models with a minimum number of trial observations. The mathematical modeling resulted in a new composition of the nutrient medium for the phytase biosynthesis of C. melibiosica, namely: (g/dm3) fructose – 30.0; yeast extract – 5.0; meat peptone – 8.71 and ÊÍ2ÐÎ4 – 0.2 mmol, achieving an increase of cell phytase productivity with 22.5%.

Production and biochemical characterization of a thermostable phytase from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens LOR10

Phytase can improve the nutritional value of plant-based foods by enhancing protein digestibility and mineral availability through phytate digestion in the stomach and the food processing industry. Microbial sources are more promising for the production of phytases on a commercial scale. The objectives of this exploration were to screening and isolation of phytase-producing bacteria from hot sp...

Broiler Performance in Response to Phytate and Supplemented Phytase

Phosphorus (P) is a macro mineral in broiler nutrition. In growing broilers, besides its requirement for proper bone development, it is also involved in almost all metabolic processes. Poor P availability results in decreased productivity and poor health status.Phosphorus availability from plant derived feeds is affected by an anti-nutritional factor “phytate”, which forms a variety of insolubl...

A Pichia pastoris fermentation strategy for enhancing the heterologous expression of an Escherichia coli phytase

The Escherichia coli phytase gene appA was highly expressed in the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris under the control of the AOX1 promoter. Replacement of culture medium with fresh medium in order to remove repressing glycerol and metabolic wastes prior to methanol induction significantly improved phytase expression. The phytase activity level was enhanced from 118 to 204 U/ml at the flask ...

Effects of salinity on growth and fatty acid composition of green microalgae Dunaliella bardawil as a candidate source for biofuel production

Microalgae as a source of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, pigments, pharmaceutical and food metabolites, has received more focus by biological researchers at last decades. The amount and composition of fatty acids produced by microalgae depended on biomass production and environmental factors such as changes in salinity, light and nutrient availability. In this study, the green microalga...

Batch Kinetics and Modeling of Alkaline Protease Production by Isolated Bacillus sp. (RESEARCH NOTE)

The aim of this study was the use of fish waste hydrolysate (FWH) as a substrate for alkaline protease production using isolated Bacillus sp. in a batch system. Then the fermentation kinetics of enzyme production was studied. The results show that with the addition of FWH to the fermentation medium with a final concentration of 4% (optimal concentration), alkaline protease value reached a maxim...
